Vikki Roubin - Wobbly

Vikki Roubin

From the author:

‘Hello my name’s Vikki and I’m a Christian who suffers from depression.’
Sadly, I’m not alone with 1 in 5 Australians experiencing a mental illness within any 12 month period.  Even sadder, 40% of depressed women are too embarrassed to seek help and over 50% of people believe depression is a personal weakness. This I know to be true because I was one of them.  For 14 years I suffered terribly; alone, undiagnosed, untreated and in light of my faith, guilt-ridden.  If I could only try harder, pray better, get more faith, snap out of it ...
Thank God He intervened: a nervous breakdown, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, medication and 16 months of counselling from a Christian psychologist saw my black dog tamed. And today, despite walking with a limp, I’m better. I’m at peace. My relationship with God is stronger than ever, and I’m here to shout in my biggest and best voice that while depression is very real, it doesn’t disqualify you from God’s love.
