The presentation of mothering with Godly wisdom and insight throughout this book is very different to other books on the market. Using quotations from historical classics, such as Pride and Prejudice, The Portrait of a Lady and The Pilgrims Progress, the authors demonstrate different mothering principles.
These principles are presented as topic headings and followed in each instance with a quote that may (or may not) be related to a mothering technique; a general idea is presented.
The quotes include descriptions of how a child’s youth affects their future, or how communication works, or the feeling of cowardice. Each section talks about mothering in some relation to the quote given.
The main part of the book however doesn’t really seem to be about the literary quotes, it is about mothering with God in mind. Scripture is used in the actual text and a call to action is included at the end of each chapter with questions for the individual reader or for use in groups. You should be challenged as a mother, and enjoy the amusing and insightful quotes.

The authors use classical novels as reference points to teach women on the art of motherhood. It is a clever, quirky approach and a refreshing new angle on a familiar topic. Rather than a to-do list, the authors ask women to reconsider their priorities and expectations; to discover for themselves God’s design for their families, and to deepen their personal relationship with the Lord and with others.
