In Reflections of the Heart and Soul Ilona Sturla has crafted a poetic journal of the emotional pain, loneliness and depression and the loss of extended family who remained in Europe. The poems whether they are a stanza or a longer poem are always hopeful. A theme of Christian hope is always present and runs like a thread through each poem and holds each verse together.
Ilona is a first generation Australian. She is cut off from her European roots and she feels the deep and unfathomable loss inside - an emptiness - that is common to those in the same situation. Many who are depressed or suffering emotional turmoil could benefit from a study of Reflections of the Heart and Soul. DS
