Trial to Triumph reviews

TRIAL TO TRIUMPH: INSPIRING STORIES OF OVERCOMERS
George Bryant
Day Star Books
As the title suggests Bryant provides an interesting collection of stories from people who have encountered, and overcome, enormous challenges in their lives, both physical and emotional. Not all of the people are Christians, and not all of them have triumphed through any kind of faith.  WN

TRIAL TO TRIUMPH: INSPIRING STORIES OF OVERCOMERS
George Bryant
DayStar Books

This well known New Zealand author maintains that it is often those who are suffering or disabled who are able to provide the most poignant and pertinent life lessons. He asserts that those who are fit and healthy often fall far behind in being able to overcome difficulties, develop coping skills, solve problems and triumph over adversity. Twenty one people share the exceptional events in their lives. The range of their difficulties is broad: birth defects, accident injuries, mental health problems, organ transplants, blindness, cancer, physical abuse and asylum seeking. The author explains that their ‘stories are not for the faint-hearted’ and that they ‘challenge able-bodied readers to re-assess their own goals and achievements.’ Inspiring tales in an Australasian setting! Sometimes it is hard to find a book about a true hero. While many books are available about sporting or entertainment celebrities these often fail to inspire us to a greater and better way of life. Trial to Triumph by George Bryant is different. It is a collection of brief biographies of twenty of New Zealand’s greatest heroes.

Trial to Triumph should appeal to every age group. The stories between the covers are truly inspirational as ordinary—but at the same time extraordinary—people overcome incredible odds to become top of their chosen field. It shows what the human spirit is capable of when courage and determination is needed.

Trial to Triumph is a ‘must read’ by every New Zealander but also by every other person who thinks that they ‘can’t’ or life is too hard. I don’t give 10-out-of-10 when it comes to reviews, but I’m seriously tempted to do so for this title.
