I was concerned that friends were being confused by an attractively produced and widely distributed booklet published by an active cult.
My regular Sunday School attendance from early childhood laid a foundation of faith upon which I have been able to build over many years. Attendance in liturgical, non-conformist and pentecostal congregations has given me a wide cross-section of Christian experience and Bible teaching which I believed qualified me to write something which would be Biblically sound, easy to read and counteract the confusion caused by false teaching.
I considered the modern, balanced translation of the scriptures in the NLT Study Bible would help overcome difficulties in understanding earlier versions, and the inclusion of episodes of God's power and presence in my life and the lives of others would strengthen readers' faith in a living God who loves them.
